Don’t tell me who you are,
Just show me who you’ll be.
The mouth cannot compare,
To what the eye can see.
You talk too much too often,
You speak with fancy words,
Just show me something real,
Because love cannot be heard.
Every time you tell me,
That someday things will change
The more I come to realize,
They’ve always been the same.
The tears have always fallen,
You’ve never fixed the pain,
The words could seem to fix it,
But beneath the hurt remained.
This world can be so messed up,
And that’s how it will stay,
Because of what we fail to do,
and rather simply say.
Don’t tell me who you are,
Just show me who you’ll be,
Keep all of your words,
And say goodbye to me.
-Mary, remembering.....
Just show me who you’ll be.
The mouth cannot compare,
To what the eye can see.
You talk too much too often,
You speak with fancy words,
Just show me something real,
Because love cannot be heard.
Every time you tell me,
That someday things will change
The more I come to realize,
They’ve always been the same.
The tears have always fallen,
You’ve never fixed the pain,
The words could seem to fix it,
But beneath the hurt remained.
This world can be so messed up,
And that’s how it will stay,
Because of what we fail to do,
and rather simply say.
Don’t tell me who you are,
Just show me who you’ll be,
Keep all of your words,
And say goodbye to me.
-Mary, remembering.....
